Information Resources and Technology

Learning Space Services

Learning Space Services leads the support, design, and planning for campus-wide designated spaces. We strive to ensure that our learning space design and technology meet the needs of our faculty and students.  We provide day-to-day faculty support in the use of classroom technology and assistance to students using our computer labs.  In addition, we provide design consultation to departments and colleges for college-designated spaces. We manage and maintain general use campus computer labs where students can access current software, access convenient print services, and reserve special project rooms. We also provide laptop checkout services for students as an available learning resource.

Computer Labs

The campus community uses computer labs to fulfill a variety of needs and uses. For example, students rely on computer labs to complete assignments and conduct research. Faculty use labs to manage scheduled courses, while staff may use them in training workshops that support the campus. In supporting some campus labs, we provide the following services:

Laptop Checkout

Learning Space Services provides laptop checkout for currently registered students with active SacLink accounts. Laptop Checkout allows students to work on laptops or mobile devices, such as iPads and Surfaces, containing the most current technology and course software.

Students may checkout devices for up to four hours at a time.

Learning Space Design and Renovation

Learning Space Services is actively engaged in the collective effort of planning and refreshing of our campus learning spaces. These spaces range from general classrooms and computer labs to conference rooms and collaborative spaces, among other types of emergent spaces.

Renovations primarily occur between summer and winter break. During this process, a great deal of planning and coordination is undertaken to accomplish as much as possible while minimizing faculty and student impact. Feedback is encouraged and data is collected to inform the collective decision making process.
