Laptop Checkout

Service Overview

Our Laptop Checkout service serves currently registered students with active SacLink accounts. Laptop Checkout allows students to work on laptops or mobile devices, such as iPads and Surfaces, containing the most current technology and course software.

Getting Started

In order to checkout a laptop, you are required to have an active SacLink account and OneCard. Students who wish to use the Laptop Loan Service will be required to sign the Laptop Computer Loan Agreement and Use Policy once per academic year.

General Checkout Guidelines

  1. Laptops can be checked out for 4 hours at a time.
  2. Laptops must be returned to their original checkout location an hour before closing.
  3. Only one laptop can be checked hour at a time.
  4. The person indicated on the OneCard must be present to check out the laptop.
  5. Late fees will be assessed if you are unable to return the laptop by its due time. Please manage your time if you anticipate being in a class during the due time.
  6. You will be assessed a fee for late turns. On your second late return, your checkout privileges will be suspended for the remainder of the current semester.
  7. Laptops require authentication via SacLink Secure for operation. They cannot be used off-campus.
  8. Laptops cannot be reserved in advance.
  9. Equipment such Mac adapters, video, and audio cables are available on a first come first serve basis at the AIRC 2004 computer lab.

Common Laptop Checkout Issues

If you are unable to log in to your laptop, please verify the following:

  1. The laptop wireless switch is activated.
  2. You are on-campus and within range of campus wireless networks.
  3. You are using a valid SacLink username and password.

If you have verified all the steps above, restart the computer and try logging in again. If you still cannot log into the laptop, bring the laptop to the appropriate checkout location, contact the Service Desk at 278-7337. 

Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Equipment

You will be required to reimburse Sacramento State for the cost of repairing or replacing the laptop if it is damaged, lost, stolen or not returned while checked out in the borrower's name. The borrower is fully responsible for the laptop during the time of check out. If the laptop is lost or stolen, the borrower will be charged a minimum fine of $2,000 plus processing fees. If it is damaged, the borrower is responsible for any repair costs. Please refer to the Loan Agreement and Use Policy for the conditions of use.
