Office 365: Configure email for your smartphone or mobile device

You can receive your Office 365 email and calendar events by adding it to your smartphone or mobile device.

Requirements

The following mobile operating systems are officially supported:

    • iOS
    • Android
    • Windows

iOS (i.e. iPhone, iPad, or iTouch)

  1. On your phone display, tap the Settings icon.
  2. Then tap Mail > Contacts > Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account, then Microsoft Exchange.
  4. Enter your SacLink email address and password. Your phone will autoconfigure any other settings. If necessary, enter the settings below:
    • Domain: (leave blank)
    • Username (if necessary): Office 365 username (this is your SacLink username@csus.edu)
    • Server name (if necessary): outlook.office365.com

Windows Phone

For Windows Phones, please follow the Microsoft instructions for Setting up or deleting an email account.

Android

Please note that there are many different versions of Android in use, and all of them have slightly different configuration steps. These steps work for the majority of Android devices.

  1. Tap Settings > Accounts > Add account > Email.
      • Add a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account.
  2. Enter your Office 365 username (e.g. your SacLink username@csus.edu), password, and tap Next.
  3. Select the Exchange Option.
  4. If you receive a message about additional security features, select OK.
  5. The Account Options page will then appear. Accept the defaults or select the options for how you want to manage your mail, and then tap Next. (You may need to scroll down to see Next.)
  6. On the Set up email page, you can change the name of your account if you wish. Tap Done when you are finished.

On some devices, you may need to manually configure your email:

  1. Tap Settings > Accounts > Add account > Email.
  2. Enter your Office 365 username (e.g. your SacLink username@csus.edu), password, and tap Next.
  3. Select Manual.
  4. Enter the following settings:
    • Email: Your Office 365 username (your full SacLink email address).
    • Domain\Username: Your domain(leave blank)\full email address (e.g.. herkyhornet@csus.edu)
      • (Hint: If the Domain & Username are in separate fields, leave the Domain blank and type in your full email address i.e. herkyhornet@csus.edu under the username field instead)
    • Password: Your SacLink password.
    • Exchange Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Use secure connections (SSL): Check this option.
  5. Tap Done.
  6. The Account Options page will then appear. Accept the defaults or select the options for how you want to manage your mail, and then tap Next. (You may need to scroll down to see Next.)
  7. On the Set up email page, you can change the name of your account if you wish. Tap Done when you are finished.
