Microsoft Outlook 2016 - "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook ... Invalid XML" error message
When you attempt to open Outlook 2016, you encounter the following error on Windows 10 devices.
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. Invalid XML, the view cannot be loaded.
To fix this error, we can run the Outlook.exe /ResetNavPane command by doing the following:
- Hold the
Windows Key + Rkey at the same time.
- The Run command window will open. Enter
outlook.exe /ResetNavPaneinto the text field.
- Click OK to run the command.
Running this command clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane for the current profile, though you will need re-add any shortcuts or favorites to your Navigation Pane. You should be able to open Outlook 2016 after running this command.
